SenateDB Senate ballot analysis

Saved ballots

Sections 269 and 268A of the Electoral Act outline savings provisions. Under these rules, ballots can still be formal if they do not follow instructions given to voters, or if they contain other errors. These tables display the number of ballots that were “saved” by these provisions.

SenateDB determines whether to count a ballot in these tables in the CountSavedBallots class. A ballot is included in this count if it meets the following conditions:

National total

Saved ballots Total formal ballots %
Total 1,046,837 13,838,900 7.56%

Savings provision usage

Note that the total number of saved ballots is less than the total number of ballots saved by each provision, since many ballots were saved by more than one provision.
